Name?

Lars Nila Lasko!Lars Nila på arbetsmöte.

My Swedish first name Lars is after my grand grandfather and my Sami first name Nila after my grandfather. I got the combination of the names Lars and Nila to better fit in both Swedish and Sami Cultures.

Nila is a traditional Sami name and are spelled different in different Sami languages. In middle of Sweden or South Sami area it is spelled Nejla and in North Finland or North Sami area Niila.

Live?

I live in down town Kiruna.

Kiruna is Sweden's most northerly municipality and World largest city in area. At 20,000 square kilometres, it is half as large as Switzerland.  If you collected all the people in the world inside Kiruna's borders, each would have four square metres to stand in. The whole municipality has 26,000 inhabitants, of whom 80% live in the town of Kiruna.

Our city hill, Kebnekaise, is Sweden's highest mountain at 2,117 metres above sea level. From its peak, you can see nine percent of Sweden, including half a dozen other alpine tops of over 2,000 metres.

Midsummer night in Kiruna 2005 at 00.00

There are more than 6,000 lakes in Kiruna, with Tornetresk Lake as the largest. It's more than 70 km long. Seven virgin rivers run through the municipality, named Kalix, Torne, Lainio, Rautas and Vittangi, as well as the Konkeme and Muonio which mark the border with Finland. This is "the last wilderness in Europe."

Burning for?

Leadership - and personnel questions.

My interest for personnel questions was aroused already when I was 27 year old. I became the youngest Chairman and the Head of administration for a Sami main organisation. As Head of administration and Chairman for RSA I builded up the organisation from 50 members to the biggest Sami organisation with over 2000 members on short time and increased the staff number. This could not be done without a big cooperation with all personnel and teamwork. I already then became certain about the important of personnel for all organisations.

Best vacation?

Difficult to say. I have been to so many places and all has their charm, their culture and their history. If I must choose it will be the Inca town Machu Pichu in Peru. It was like coming a millennium back in the time and to see a town as it was on Inca time. The Spaniards never found the town 6.000 m up in the Andes. (www.sacredsites.com/americas/peru/machu_picchu.html).

Some people like to go on vacation to the same place  year after year. This is something that I never understood. Each year I travel abroad and have visiting a big number of countries and parts of the world. I always want to see something new, get new ideas, new inspiration and to experience something new.

Will the year 2007 be the 400 years breakthrough?                     The latest genealogy research about the family Lasko shows tracks 377 years back in time from the youngest in the family Lasko, Gunnar Lasko, to the 12:th generation back in time. There are no detailed information about the 12:th generation back in time, except that his name is Nils Tjaank,  born around 1630 and probably from Northern Arjeplog in Northern Sweden.

Everything indicates that year 2007 will be the 400 years breakthrough in genealogical research about family Lasko.
